What Oita is
Oita Prefecture is located in the northeast of Kyushu. Prefectural capital is Oita City, the useful transport hub to the region. Also offers plentiful bars and clubs centred on the Miyakomachi area. This area is also a good place to try the famous local mugi shochu (a barley based spirit) and a great opportunity to meet the friendly locals.
Just north of Oita City is Beppu, one of Japan's most famous hot spring resorts, offers you hyped attraction "Burning Hell" MANY DIFFERENT COLORS that is a collection of hot springs. Another hot spring resorts is Yufuin, located in a green valley beneath the spectacular Mount Yufu, takes an half hour from Beppu by a bus. The Kunisaki-hanto peninsula, is known for many Buddhist monuments that tell you of prosperity that the Buddhist culture had enjoy there in old times.
Access To Oita
By Air
Oita air terminal have some distance from the nearest station and Oita or Beppu city. It is better to access to air terminal by the Airport Express bus.

By Shinkansen (Bullet train)
With transfer in Kokura Station, the Sanyo Shinkansen line from Hiroshima, Osaka serves Kokura Station in Kitakyushu. The Tokai Shinkansen "Nozomi" line a trip of all the way from Tokyo to Kitakyushu as well.

There are a ferry services to access to Beppu from Osaka. If you have enough time to enjoy the trip or travel by your own car in the area, ferry services are quite useful.
